Simply Be

Hi lovely followers. I hope you all can forgive me for my internet slacking and boring blog posts. This month has been full of pure craziness. The title of this entry is inspired by a 'meditation' application I installed on my iPhone, in which a woman with a droning, drugged out voice tells me in partially slurred words that everything is going to be alright and that 'I need to find comfortable position, close my eyes and to become well aware of what is going on inside of me.' This is supposed to be calming and soothing however, in midst of  planning a wedding I ask myself, what is going on inside of me? A bunch of weird sh*t, I think. Physiologically speaking: indigestion, chest pain, a weird neck hump that appears to be the result of a strained muscle... psychologically: thoughts of phones calls I need to make, people to add to the guest list, the repetitive sound of a cash register dinging. I'm finding myself succumbing to the typical stressors that people commonly report about when embarking on this task.

Feeling a little bit like this crying guy below:

To escape said stressors, I'm finding massive comfort in my fantasy world of cyber friends and fashion blogs. Recently, I've stumbled upon a darling girl who is my latest obsession. She just recently started her blog, 13 days ago to be exact, and she already has 100 + followers. She is incredibly gorgeous and makes me embarrassed of the pictures and content on my own blog. But oh well, at least I can live vicariously through her beauty, amazing writing skills and ethereal and enchanting forest backdrop comprising her gorgeous photography. Check out her blog, According to Annika, here.

Hope you all like my new bed cardigan. I snatched it up at a thrift store here in town that lets you trade in your own clothing for store credit. I love its puffy sleeves and lace detail on the shoulders. It kind of reminds me of Captain Hook, from peter pan. Yessss.

Love you all and appreciate you taking the time to stop by.

Make up your mind

Hi friends! The weather has been so strange lately. This morning was overcast, then the afternoon cleared, birds were chirping, sun shining and now it's raining...again. Schizophrenic weather is not my cup of tea.  Oh well, at least we all survived the rapture, right?

Today my cousin and I snapped some photos for her incredibly beautiful specimen of a child named Rubye. Her 3rd Birthday is coming up soon and we thought we'd doll her up for her invites, give her some balloons to hold and a cupcake to smash in her face.

Unfortunately, mid-way through driving around to scout a location for our pictures, some mother-load monsoon type thunderclouds rolled in overhead. Apparently we are EVIL monster adults because this did not stop up and we made sweet Ruby pose in the rain while we huddled under the protection of an umbrella. She kept repeating the 'happy' mantra outloud to herself until we unleashed the most intense and beastly sugar treat on her. After proceeding to devour said cupcake and covering her teeth with bright pink frosting, Rubye declared that it was time for us to be quiet (we were singing happy Birthday to cheer her up) and that she wanted to go home to daddy.

Moral of the story is that sugar makes any rainy day somewhat tolerable.

Flower Child

Wow. Yet another LAME post title. Sorry loves, my brain isn't functioning properly anymore as school has ended and the weather's been clear and sunny. I feel like someone has taken a pin to my head and deflated all the air... or brain cells... wait never mind, this isn't making sense... moving on.

So I've been staying at my dad's place for the past week house/doggy sitting. It has been super relaxing to have the whole house to myself. I can walk around and eat cereal in my underwear and sing loudly to myself in the bathroom (think Silence of the Lambs scene where the dude is putting on lipstick...just kidding. That's not funny.) I've also been catching up on TV shows and laying around like the laziest fool. Kind of gross, I know.

I hope you all like my new skirt. I bought it from a local boutique called Koo de Ker. The owner was so sweet and helped me decide on some new threads for my engagement photos (scheduled for tomorrow...YIKES!) Normally I have no problem deciding what to wear, but all of the sudden I find myself freezing up thinking about the wide range of people these photos will reach.

I don't want to wear anything too edgy/trendy for the fear that in ten years I will look back and think "Oh wow, that is a HEINOUS romper/maxi skirt" but at the same time I don't want anything boring and nun-like because well, no one wants to look like a nun.

Guess I'll just have to pull out the old, trusty, crotchless, red pleather jumpsuit.

On another note, I had some vintage family photos enlarged the other day. The one of my Grandma and great Grandma on the Tijuana float is my personal favorite. <3

Latest Thrift Finds

Hello my blogger loves! I wanted to share with you my latest finds from thrifting and Estate Sale shopping. My cousins Caitlin and Hannah are my lovely models and lucky for me, they are happy to work in exchange for a glass of wine and good music.

I'm pretty much obsessed with this duo (not in a weird incestuous, way, just in a grateful that I have raddest-family-members-that-are-stuck-with-me-for-life sort of way.) Not only are they the most hilarious, warm and kind hearted people I know, they are drop dead gorgeous. (I mean come on, that's all that really matters, right?) Sarcasm, friends... totally kidding!

But I really do feel like the red headed step child while standing next to them.

So I wanted to get feedback from the most stylish group of gals on the internets... that would be YOU all, dear readers! Let me know which threads you would wear and the items you aren't too fond of as I'll be listing your approved pieces in my Etsy store.

Hope you all are done with school and are enjoying the beginning of summer (weather is NASTY here, so I  haven't had the opportunity to do an outfit post outside.) Oops.

Anyhow, let me know what you think!

 <3 xoxo

School's out!

Hi Friends!! I am so elated that school is OVER for the semester! I'm almost as excited as moment I opened the box containing my new Lita's! (Please play my Whitney Houston below to understand my emotions.)

I don't have much to write as I just finished a 6 page research paper and am SICK of caressing my keyboard with my fingertips so I'll keep this one brief. All I can say is I've missed you all and hope that you're all ready to see waaaaaay too many posts from me.

I'll be busy with wedding planning too and hope that you will all help me in the process, i.e. giving me your feedback on dresses, flowers, venues, food and proving answers to miscellaneous questions like what do I do if I have to pee at the alter? Just relax and let it go while sighing really loudly? I need your help with all this.

Anyway making my rounds to your blogs as I've been deprived of them for the past week.

Cyber love to you all!

xo Kristen
